Coffee Walk

Unscripted walks with the founders building Europe’s biggest companies. No prep, no questions in advance. One city at a time.

Most founder interviews are performances. Questions sent ahead, talking points rehearsed, a studio and two chairs while a founder repeats the version of the story they have told a hundred times.

Coffee Walk is the opposite. One founder, one walk, no prep. I meet each guest in their own city, we walk, and then we sit down for a coffee. A mic each, nothing sent in advance, no script.

It started in Istanbul, outside Soho House, down through Galata to Karaköy. The route changes with the city. The format does not.

The format

There is no green room and no run of show. The walk is the format. People are looser on their feet than they are under studio lights, and the city does half the work. You learn something about a founder by watching how they move through the place they built their company in.

Thirty to forty minutes, the length of the walk. In Istanbul the route is fixed: meet at the door, down through Galata, coffee in Karaköy. Everywhere else the founder picks the street. They know which one is worth walking.

Who gets a walk

One rule for guests. They have built or are building a company worth over a hundred million dollars. Founders and CEOs who have operated at scale, not commentators talking about it.

Episode one is Istanbul, a city that has quietly produced more category-defining companies than most people outside it realize. Trendyol. Insider. Dream Games. The list runs longer than the reputation.

Walk one. Barbaros Özbuğutu built iyzico in Istanbul and sold it to PayU. He came back to walk it.

Where it goes

Istanbul is where it started, and there are more Istanbul walks coming. Where it goes after that is not decided. Amsterdam, Paris, London, Stockholm, Rome and Mykonos are all in the frame. None of them are booked.

I come to you. That is the point. The walk only works if it is your city and you already know which street is worth it.

So tell me where. If there is a founder building a hundred-million-dollar company in your city, and a street worth walking, reply with it. The audience draws the map.

For Founders

If you are building a hundred-million-dollar company and want a walk, email me first. Tell me who you are, what you have built, and which city. If it is a fit, I will send you a time. No prep beyond that, and nothing to prepare for once we start. That is the point.
